I had plans for a girls night full of homemade pizza, bottles of wine, and some good old girl talk. Of course I decided I would bring dessert! This weekend I decided to branch out of my cupcake madness and make something different.
About a month ago, I purchased a cupcake pan that makes little cakes in the shape of Popsicles. It was one of those I NEED TO HAVE THIS NOW moments as I wondered through a cake shop in town. Not showing an ounce of restraint I purchased it and the pan has since sat waiting for the perfect time to be used!
And this weekend was it!
The decision was to make Ghosts on a stick! In the process, I learned a few things!
1) You can burn chocolate when trying to melt it- and then it doesn’t taste so yummy

2) black food coloring in a white cake batter is useless- just make a chocolate cake
3) cake batter doesn’t rise around a Popsicle stick so well… at least not the way it does with a raspberry in the middle of a cupcake.
4) Cake covered in chocolate instead of frosting = crunchy, soft heaven!
They ended up being black cake with white chocolate! So tasty! I was so proud of myself that I sat and ate one instead of cleaning up my mess! Hum, maybe I should at least move it to the dishwasher. After all, it is now Monday….
